My Favorite Homework Helper

allmyLast week, we all met and discussed our school goals and identified areas in which we could improve. I love the site “All My Faves,” but not all of the sites there are appropriate for you. Instead, go to “All My Faves — Education,” and pick a site that will help you achieve one of the goals you discussed in your conference or a site that will help you do better in one of your classes. Then, explore the site and tell me what you learned and/or how the site helped you or will help you this year in school. I am now looking for correct comma usage; please proofread!!!

  • This site is awesome! It has everything from art to music to test prep and study tools, it has everything. I explored the art section and the study tools section, it had art history and study notes. I was looking at spark notes and looked up Tom Sawyer and it gave me all the chapters and a summary on everyone. Since I had read chapters 18-21 I decided to look at the summary and it reviewed it for me. This will come in handy this year for my personal project and all my other subjects. I can use it for answers and guidance for studying for tests. It is going to very useful this whole year and I am glad Mrs.Brill showed it to us.

  • In the conferences, I mentioned that I don’t have the best study habits. When you gave us this website, I immediately went to the studying section. I found the Study Guides and Strategies site the most helpful. It tells you everything from time management to tips on taking tests. The site doesn’t just give you general information. It specifies each subject and helps you with each one. I am going to use this site to help me study for my history test tomorrow!

One of the things that was discussed during my conference was my test taking. After looking through all the topics, I decided to explore the site Quizlet under the “Study Tools” section. I could type in a subject I’m having trouble with and it would come up with a full set of flashcards to help me study. I could also play games and take a practice test on any subject I needed. This site will definitely be helpful in studying for my Spanish test on Thursday.

In particular one class that I am really struggling with is French. When I read the prompt I immediately wondered if they had a link to French. I scrolled down the list to languages, and sure enough it had a French section on a BBC site. The link had all kinds of videos, notecards, quizzes, and much, much more in order to help me receive a top notch grade. I am extremely glad that I was introduced to this site by Mrs. Brill, and I hope that if I continue to use it in the future than maybe I can get a great grade on my next French test. I think that it is a great idea to make a website just to help other people.

There were a lot of things that were discussed within my conference that I had a particular interest on improving. One of these skills that we had all discussed was my writing. I was always marked down for writing on and on and never getting to the point within my writing. I plan to change that this year. So, on the website I went to the site “Daily Writing Skills” and started to find many helpful tips! One of the tips I read on this site was how to shorten things up and get to the point in your writing by using certain punctuation points like commas, semi-colons, and apostrophes. There were other tips in editing too, which I found very helpful. All in all this was a very helpful, educational site for me in order to improve my writing skills.

  • One thing that I have always needed help on is studying. I don’t know why, but I never have gotten the hang of studying a book, so I checked out Sparknotes. It helped a lot because of how much information it had in the website! It even contains Tom Sawyer. This site helps because when you don’t understand a part of a book, you can go to this website and find what you are confused about. This site isn’t just for books, though. It also has things on what you have observed before. Sometimes, it can even be quite humorous. They have ones that are completely random for when you are bored, too.

P.S. Thanks Mrs. Brill. “All My Fave’s” will come in handy.

  • The website I went to was a study website filled with flashcards and quizzes for you to take. This website is filled with information ranging from literature to science. I would really recommend thus website to people who need different questions to answer besides their own. I was using this to study Tom Sawyer and a variety of stuff. You can also compair your notes to others. I just thought I would chose this site for me to review T. S. (thank you)

During my conference, the main thing I talked about was my weakness in French. I’m not good at French, so I am aiming to get better! As soon as I saw academic, I thought straight to French, and I clicked on BBC-Languages. This website is very helpful. I clicked on “foods and drinks” because I worked on that last year, but I forgot most of it during the summer. This website refreshed my memories. I remember quit a bit of things, like “Je voudrias un lemonade sil vous plait! Quel Quel choise aboir, parce que je soif”. I also learned how to get around French speaking countries. This information will be very useful to me because my family enjoys traveling to places like France. I also learned that they kiss on the check when you say hi to one another. That is just like the Egyptian culture! Seeing French video’s that are normal people, in a normal day, doing normal things is very interesting to me because I can hear them talk fluently which inspires me to learn their language even more. This website was very helpful to help me because it refreshes my memory and gives me a small glimpse of what we are going to do in the future.

  • I have always needed help when it comes to studying! When I got on the site I saw that it had all sorts of cool things that we can use to help us. I went to the study tools area and clicked on one called “Study Guides and Strategies.” I loved this web site because it talked all about time management, how to learn, how to study, how to memorize stuff and even how to pay attention in class. I think this can really help me throughout the entire school year because it teaches all of the things that I need help with, the main one being how to prepare for tests. I am glad I saw this because I will definitely use it in the future.

  • The site I went to was http://www.amazon.com/b/?ie=UTF8&node=283155 or amazon books. This helped me see what are the best books out right now. The way it relates to school is that I need a new Independent Reading book, and I can’t find an interesting book to read. I learned that a book about a squirrel and a chipmunk is a Fiction Blockbuster. That is an extremely interesting fact. This could be a fun book to read. Another interesting book is “Don’t Behave Like You Live in a Cave.” This book teaches kids how to behave in school and at home, and it teaches kids how to make smart choices. I strongly recommend this to all of my classmates who don’t know the right thing to do. I believe this is the perfect book for me to read. I can’t wait to get started.

One amazing website that I came across while looking through “All My Faves” was “howstuffworks.com.” This website is very efficient and straight to the point! All you have to do is type in a problem/situation in the search engine, and the website will give you a thorough description of the topic you are researching. Your topic includes pictures and most of the time an interview with someone that was there or is an expert on the event. This site will hopefully help me a lot this year! Google can be helpful when researching online, but it has a wide range of websites that may or may pertain to the topic.“Howstuffworks.com” works almost every time, and it also narrows down your topic so that you get right to the information that you need. Overall, this website is very helpful whether it’s giving you descriptive information or visual pictures, this website has it all!

  • During my conference I thought my academic weaknesses were in social studies and oceanography. I have come to realize that I have been understanding them a lot better than I have in the past years. I also have been working on my organization. Because of these changes I did not need help from any of the websites. I went to the games part of the all my faves – education and chose the three of them to play.

My choices were light-bot, traveler iq, and A Maze’n Math. These games were very helpful to my problem solving skills because sometimes I don’t think and take the easy way out of solving a problem. Traveler iq quizzed how well you knew the world’s geography. I chose this game because I want to be in the school geo-bee .

  • I chose a game that would help me in one of my classes. The game would help me in math, and it was called “A Maze’n Math.” I couldn’t finish all the levels because it was hard, but it helped me look for patterns. The looking for patterns with help me be able to check my work better, so I can get less errors in my problems. I got to level 20/25, but then it got boring and hard, so I stoped. The website was pretty cool, but I wish we had a bigger choice of games.

  • Over all in my conference, the main thing we talked about was me trying to get into Honors math, as this was my number one goal. But, as of this week, I’m moving into Honors! So, that goal has been completed. The next topic that came up in my mind was my personal project. I am learning how to cook, hence, I went to the “recipe” section on the website. I went to allrecipes.com and looked up some of my favorite foods, like Rugelach. So, I think I’ll use this website to find recipes to make for my project, so not only will I be learning how to cook, but I will be able to make my favorite foods!

  • In my conference, I brought up that I am doing the worst in Latin class. We talked about how I am not understanding of the curriculum and I need to improve on my learning skills! I peeked around in the website and I figured out a website called Live Mocha. It is a website where you can contact other people around the world and talk with them in their language. This will be a good way to learn and practice your language with others. And at the same time you can make friends from another person around the planet!

This site had so many other sites on it. I will definitely be using it later to help me with any school problems. The first thing I did when I got on the site was scroll down to the ESL section because English is my worst subject. I went to the OWL site and typed in commas to see what would come up. All of the comma rules came up plus more! Some of them were comma abuses, but I’m pretty sure that I found all of the rules there. Another site I went to in the ESL category was Dave’s ESL Café. When I open up the browser the first thing I click on is the For Students section. Once the page finishes loading I see at least one hundred links to help students with grammar. It was amazing to see that this one guy Dave would take the time to put up all of these lessons. I’m sure that I will be going to this site later in the year for any questions I have about grammar. Overall I think this site was great and I know I will use it for more than English throughout my school life.

On Conference Day, I established my main goals to be better organization, time management, and study habits. I went to “Study Guides and Strategies” from the Study Tools section. I read what this website had to say about time management, and I did the activity that shows how much time I take out of my day to do various things. In addition, I also played “Traveler IQ” to improve my geography skills; I hope to be in the Geography Bee this year.

All My Faves is pretty cool, I have to say. I’m not sure which site would help me more, so I just went with two: math.com and transparent.com/learn-latin. If I don’t understand the explanation for how to do a math problem in the textbook, I can just turn to math.com for a different way of looking at it. I wish I had known before about this site. It would have helped me a lot last year! The other site I looked at was transparent.com. This site lets you download free programs that help you learn Latin. It will help me and other students review vocabulary in preparation for a test or in spare time. I think we all could benefit from this website because in my B block class, we’re all having some sort of problem with Latin, whether it’s memorizing the endings or just remembering how to use the cases. Mrs. Brill, thanks for posting this website! I can tell I’m going to use during the year.

Year after year, my worst grades tend to be in history, so I decided to check out the website for The History Channel. In my opinion, this was a very useful and informative site. I thought maybe I should look up something from what we were learning in class, so I typed James K. Polk in the search bar. I discovered that not only did the website provide useful articles about the topic, but also pictures related to James K. Polk. In addition, I also looked up some study habits because I always find myself either cramming or wondering just how, exactly, do you study well? My favorite site was Study Guides and Strategies. It provided lots of useful steps on how to avoid procrastination and effectively study for a test or quiz. I found that both of these websites were extremely helpful, and although I may not get a chance to use the history website, I can definitely use the study tools to help me prepare for my French test tomorrow!

My history grade is not where I’d like to be, and my study habits for history are very bad. I went on History.com and immediatly searched some of the topics we have recently covered. Many articles and some videos appeared. I was amazed at how much information was covered in the articles and videos. I will definetly use this website as a summarizer before the tests.

On conference day we talked about how I don’t really study all that well. This has always been a problem for me and I was happy to find a website that will help. Some of the web sites I have seen before, and others were new to me and I was happy to explore them. The first site I looked at was called “Quizlet”. It is free and quite helpful. Although it is based upon something you can do on your own without even visiting site (making flash cards) I think that this is much more interesting. Because of the fact that it is not as boring as regular flash cards it is somewhat easier to understand the information because I am paying better attention. Another site that I visited was called “Studygs”. This site gives you strategies you can use to study for tests and quizzes which is something that I think will help my test taking abilities.

  • I liked this site a lot and thought it was very helpful. The thing I was struggling with most was how to study for a test. I was scrolling down the site and found Test Prep. I looked at all the categories and saw a very interesting category called GMAT Club. I clicked on it and explored it a little until I saw Self-Prep. When I clicked on the Self-Prep section it taught me about different ways to study for a test that I never thought of. First GMAT taught me to design a study plan. Then GMAT recommended that I should focus on one individual subject every month and study that subject really hard. GMAT also taught me to study for a test for at least one hour so that I am better prepared and know every detail of my subject. Overall, GMAT taught me three good ways to study for a test. Next time I have a test, I will study for that test for at least an hour. In the future, I will also study a certain subject for one month so that I can master it. Finally, I will make a schedule so that I know what tests are coming up and how many days I have to study for each test. I am really glad I clicked on the GMAT link and hope that I now know the best way to study for a test.

My main problem that was discussed during my parent-student-teacher conference was my participation in class. I defiantly need to participate more. I believe if I was prepared for class, then that would help me be more comfortable with raising my hand. I was overwhelmed with sites to choose from, but I decided to go with Dictionary.com. I use this for every class, if there is a vocabulary word I need to look up. This is ten times better than looking it up in the dictionary because it takes me about 3 minutes to find the word. Dictionary.com is probably one of the most helpful web sites I’ve been on.

  • The problems I talked about in my conference were mostly about participation, but I have also had some difficulty with oceanography. I’ve always seen teachers use Discovery, but I’ve never tried this website on my own. After looking at a couple of videos and blogs, I have really started to understand more about plate tectonics. I will definitely use this website more often as a study guide, notes, or maybe just for fun. Thank you so much Mrs. Brill for the fabulous blog. I hope we do more blogs just like this one!

  • I’m really bad at taking tests. I usually understand the concepts being tested but I still make stupid mistakes and careless errors. This is why I went on the website that had test taking tips. I learned a lot about how some things, like not eating breakfast, can cause you to do poorly. I sometimes skip breakfast but now I know not to. Even though I do check my work when I’m done with a test, I probably should be more attentive while I’m doing this. I now know a better and more efficient way to approach tests.

  • This site is awesome. It has everything, from translators, to typing games, to “How To, For Dummies.” There were a lot of useful things on here, I thought that Cliff Notes were really cool, because you can look up any book and get a summary. Not that I would use it on the book Tom Sawyer. WikiAnswers was also very useful, because I could look up any question, including some that I needed answered for my history and science fair. This website even had student travel websites that might even give airline discounts on field trips. Thank you for showing me this website, I definitely will use it in the future.

  • Sorry, “Tom Sawyer” is supposed to be underlined.

  • This site was really cool. I have never seen anything like it before. I went to the eyewitness site, and that could be helpful to many classes. They had many topics related to History and Science. I also went on the site, Bitesize. It was a lot like the site Chomp Chomp. Just looking at all of the sites Kinda of hurt my eyes. For any topic you need help with, you can always find something that will help you.

  • In my conference, we discussed about how math seems like a review from last year. Well, I decidede to go onto one of the math websites called Math Moves U. In this sight, I learned how to create a roller coaster and how to solve all different types of math problems. This website can help me advance in almost any type of math while having fun!

  • There were so many sites to choose from on the website, but I believe I found one that will help me the most. I found a site called Sparknotes. Sparknotes is a site for studying and learning. One of my main goals this school year is to study more. With Sparknotes I can just type in the subject I’m trying to study and BOOM! (Nike Commercial) there it is. For example, if I need to study more for the comma quiz I type in commas, and there is a list of helpful, educational articles about commas. Thanks to Sparknotes, I can study for every test or quiz and understand.

  • This site was pretty cool. One thing I have a problem with is spelling. I was originally going to write about a different site, but I started playing Hangaroo, and I actually knew the answer for several categories, but I couldn’t spell them right, so I accidentally killed the kangaroo. I even misspelled “Enter the Dragon”. This forced me to actually think about the spelling BEFORE clicking on the letter. The same concept applies to my writing, except a virtual kangaroo’s life isn’t on the line. I also liked the Google dictionary, which is a useful tool to use for spelling, and it also helps you use words properly.

History in general has always been my bad subject. The “All My Faves” website showed me another website called “Best of History”. This website has a certain section for American History which is what we are learning this year. Inside of the American History folder there is a folder for the Civil War. Our grade has just started to learn about the Civil War. This website will be great for me to have summaries to look at before the tests and quizzes. I am so glad that I found this website because it will help me get better grades in History!

“All my Faves-Education” was an extremely helpful website to me. Although I set specific goals for myself, I think that It would be a wonderful idea to excel in all of my subjects as much as possible. There is always room for improvement. The website that I goofed around on was called Cliff Notes. This website had a multitude of useful pages. Many subjects were displayed, such as math, english, study habits and almost any other subject you can think of. It gives you outlines on how to write different types of papers for english, gives you book summaries, gives math examples on any level and teaches grammar. :) I am positive that I am going to use Cliff Notes this year to help me improve 0n whatever I can.

At my conference, I mentioned that I have trouble deciding how much to study. I always either study way too much or not enough. I went to the Study Guides and Strategies section. I especially wanted to look at the Effective Habits for effective Studying page. It really helped me to identify ways to more fully use the time I take to study. It had a short ten question quiz to show me more efficient ways to study, and I realized that it does not really how much you study if you are not studying productively. I will definitely use this website in the future to help me before tests.

  • I explored the math portion of the site for my own benefit. Math is the one class I am struggling the most in due to my last test. So I decided that I would look for a site that might have something that could help me with what I missed the most on that test. I did find a site that helped me a little with function and graphs. It had a few examples and notes, but this one didn’t help me as much as the next one I visited. This site was called interactive mathematics, and it showed what to do with functions when they are not in function form, and it showed how to graph them and how tell if they are a function. I may be revisiting this site before midterms because it will help me study for that particular weakness of mine.

  • The website was really incredible. It had websites for almost any subject. Two of the things I’ve been having problems with were studying and time management. I chose to pick a website on studying. It was called Quizlet. It is really cool because it has a feature where people can make personal notecards and save them on there account. So for a vocabulary test or something, you can make your own notecards. Also, there is a search bar where you can search different books. I looked up Tom Sawyer, and it showed multiple sets of information. One of them was vocabulary. About half of the words were words on our previous vocab quiz. Then from there it lets you study the notecards, take a quiz on them, or play a study game involving them. The website seemed very helpful.

  • In my parent teacher conference, we came to the conclusion that I need to raise my hand more in my classes. But since this doesn’t have anything to do with this website, I went on the math section and selected Math Moves U. You had to put what grade you are in and if you are a student or teacher. Then they came up with a selection of skills that you may be studying in your classes. They had a section on algebra, which I most likely will use if I ever need extra help in math. Thank you for introducing me to this website. It will be a great help.

  • This site seemed pretty interesting to me, it took me some time to find a site to help me out though. Mainly, I looked for something to help me with organization, but after being unable to find one, I went on to a French site. It showed me the 12 step way to learn French. I made it through some of the steps, but wasn’t able to finish all 12. The site managed to help me review basic, spoken French. It’s quite a relief considering we never really learned how to just have a normal French conversation. I may use this site in the future as it helped me a lot. (Have to say it was also pretty hilarious that a person from the “All My Faves” site commented on our blog).

  • At my conference, we discussed that I need to become more organized. At first it looked like there wasn’t anything listed there for organization until I found Wikihow. This website helped me by giving me advice on time management, etc. It told me to do things such as: pack up my bag right after I do my homework, make sure I have all of my books for my homework while I’m still at my locker, and to gather all of the materials I need for school in the morning. It also recommended that I keep a project calendar. I will try these strategies and hopefully they will help in getting me organized.

  • This website was fantastic. It had many school subjects, everyday subjects and even study notes. I looked at the art section and looked at some of the history of art. Also I looked at the green section just to see what more I could do to save our environment. I think this site has helped me find some new and exciting new websites to try. THanks for showing this to me. Oh, and lastly my favorite of them all was forecast earth just because I love to hear what’s going around the nation/ world.

  • In my conference we never really talked about one particular subject, but we did talk about my dreaded study habits. I chose to choose a game that would help me with my studying. I clicked on “Quizlet” and discovered how cool it was. You can browse any subject, any language, study vocabulary, and make flash cards online! You can also use this website and study off of your phone which is exceptionally useful because I am always on the road. I thought this website was very neat and impressive, and I think I will use it in the future!

  • One of my troubles that was discussed in my conference was that I sometimes can’t focus on a book if it gets to a boring part. When I visited the allmyfaves site I looked up study tools and, I found sparknotes. On sparknotes they have summaries of basicly all books on Earth. When I got to it I looked up Tom Sawyer and they had little quiz that you could take on certain chapters . After the quiz my Mom made me look at the summaries to see if I know the book well enough for the Test. Now that I know of this site I can refer back to it before a book test to help my study skills.

  • During my conference, I began to understand that I need to participate more in some of my classes. There were no websites listed that would directly increase my participation in class. As an alternative, I looked for a website to reinforce the Spanish I am learning. Mángo is a language learning website found on All My Faves. I experimented with the Spanish free trial, and it was as if I had my own Spanish tutor. There were different lessons available, including basic conversations, sports, verbs, etc. The most beneficial element of the website was the audio. It was very helpful to be able to hear the pronunciation of the words and the vowels. I am struggling with my Spanish grammar and my pronunciation, and this website will help me improve in my weaker areas of the Spanish language.. The website also used colored fonts to relate the Spanish word to it’s English equivalent. For example, “Hello” would be the same color as “Hola” in a sentence. I will bookmark All My Faves, so I can find more websites to help me with my other homework.

  • During my conference with my advisor we had noticed that my hardest subject was Spanish. So I tried out “Mango” I didn’t help that much because it was all the basic usage of Spanish. I really didn’t learn anything from the site, except that if it had been my first time using Spanish that website would’ve helped me a lot. I will definitely come back to this website and try out the other sites that helps people with there Spanish and I will use the sites if I have any trouble. Thank you. This is a good website to use because if anyone is having trouble in any subject they can come to this website and get back on track.

    • I just noticed that any has like almost the exact same thing is me and i posted mine after hers, so please don’t think that I copied hers because I didn’t I just noticed that after I had posted it.

  • In my confrence, I made a comment about how I needed some help with my study skills. I looked at the website called Grade Saver. I saw that the site had study guides and essay help on it. It even had study guides and essay help for Tom Sawyer! If you don’t mind, Mrs. Brill, I might be looking at those for our Tom Sawyer test/essay… I thought it was a really great site and I will be using it for lots of classes. I think that by looking at it my study skills will improve. Thanks for the sites!

  • Although I didn’t attend my conference, I have always struggled with focus. In sports, academics, or whatever else I do I struggle with focus. For this reason, I chose to go to math.com and play chess. Chess, as you probably know, is the ultimate test of focus. One lapse of focus could indeed cost you the match. You have to think about not only the current move but 3, 4, or 5 moves down the road. Its imperative that you watch your opponent’s move particularly close, for you need to see what they are doing, so you can counter that plan. Playing chess has always helped me in every class. If you look at school like chess, you are a little bit nuts but if you take lessons from chess into school you it will do better in all of your classes. Now, thanks to math.com, I can play chess whenever I want to and become a master of focus.

  • At my conference, the main thing we focused on was preparing for tests and organizing your time. A really helpful website that I found was “Study Guides and Strategies.” This website has so many ways to help you succeed through your school years. It ranges from time management, learning how to studying, to helping a student participate more in class discussions. I focused more on test preparation. Often times I know the test material very well, but my test grades don’t always reflect that. I figured out that using multiple sources to study actually helps me learn and retain the material. I also test better when I review the test material every night instead of procrastinating till the last day before the test. I can’t wait to see my test grades after using these new skills.

  • In my conference I explained my strengths and weaknesses. Weaknesses should and almost always are fixed. My weaknesses that my parents and I talked about in the conference are that my writing habits aren’t very good, especially my handwriting. So this website was sensational because it showed me important things to do while writing, like from the website junketstudies, it taught me the most important rules of writing. The website says some rules like “use commas to bracket nonrestrictive phrases, which are not essential to the sentence’s meaning”, “Do not use commas to bracket phrases that are essential to a sentence’s meaning”, “When beginning a sentence with an introductory phrase or an introductory (dependent) clause, include a comma”. I think these rules aren’t only very important I think they will teach me stuff about writing better.

  • One of the things I was and have always been a little worried about with in school is English, and so that popped up in my conference. However, I didn’t feel secure clicking on the “Intensive English Institute” link, so I went to the class I have the next most trouble with, French. After reading through the several links, I found BBC, which my dad watches Dr. Who on, and clicked there. The French section contains a lot on basics and other core concepts, which I find important because there are still some simple things that I haven’t mastered yet. I can probably use this website as a good overall reference tool to help me with the little things I forget.

I went on this website called TED.com, which is a website that has a bunch of really cool videos about new technologies and discoveries. After exploring the website for a while, I found a couple of pretty cool videos. The best one I found was the hypothesis “I am my connectome.” This hypothesis is about that in your brain the connections between different neurons may store all your feelings, memories, and what makes you you.

Sorry I accidentally submited my blog before I finished.

  • I had never heard of this website before, so I was expecting some boring page of sites. When all of these ineresting websites popped up on a huge page, I realized that this blog wouldn’t be so painful after all! At my conference, we were talking about how it is hard to keep my focus in history class, which makes I harder to learn about American History. So then I went directly to the history part of the All My Faves website. To be honest, none of the sites caught my eye, so I just looked at all of them. The one that helped me the most was the “American Memory” website. It really helped me learn more about what we just finished learning about, such as the Louisiana Purchase. I thought it was under the control of France, but it was actually also under the control of several Indian tribes. That was only in the first paragraph. I will definitely be returning to All My Faves later on in the year.

  • This week, I went on multiple websites, searching for the perfect one to write about. Since the main issue discussed in my conference was organization, I was hoping there might be some website offering organization tips for me, but soon realized no website could help me with this. So in lieu of this, I found a great writing website called “dailywritingtips.com.” I love to write stories but wanted to improve on this so this website helped me. When you first open up to the page, the are random tips set up, off of which you can go to a more specific help page.
This was an interesting and helpful website and I will certainly be using it in the future.

It would be one of the biggest technological challenge in history to find a connectome in a human brain because you would have to track all the neurons in a human brain in order to find one, which is almost impossible. This video really prooved to me that the technology is starting to make a big step. Maybe we are in a new stage of evolution right now! :P

  • In my conference, my main goal was to improve in Spanish. Sometimes I am not always sure how to conjugate certain verbs. The website had so many choices to choose from. They had everything from writing skills to art. It was definitely a very capacious site. I went to the language section on the site and navigated through the Rosetta stone website. The software that they offered was not free, but it seemed to have very good reviews. It costs about $749 and it includes interactive software, audio companion, live online lessons, games, and mobile companion. I think that this software could probably improve my Spanish quite significantly. This particular software helps more with speaking rather than writing, but it also has a section that teaches you how to write. I was interested in exploring the Rosetta stone website in particular because I have seen many advertisements and commercials about the product. I liked how this site was setup and I will probably visit it again.

My main conference goal was to be more oraganized and to always write down my homework in my agenda. The best website I was dailywritingtips.com. It gave me many helpful tips on how I should be roganized during the school year. Some tips I have taken from this websire include organizing papers to specific subsets of each sunject, and I will write down every test and quiz. By doing these tips, I can greatly prepare myself for this year and in high school. I will continue to use the many helpful sites during the year.

After exploring the site, I found that the site called “Mango,” this site focused mostly on language. In particular, Spanish. One of my goals was to improve in my language class which is Spanish. This site helped me in the basics of Spanish. It didn’t show me grammar or any of the things that we learn in class, but if I never had taken Spanish then this site would be useful. It listed many tips to study for Spanish, but nothing specific. I enjoyed exploring the site! I will definitely be using All My Faves throughout the year.

  • I’m sorry that this is late. I forgot about it, and I have been volunteering and at swim practice.
When I went to the website, I thought about what I wanted to improve upon at my conference. Immediately, I thought of procrastination. When looking at the links, I went to the section for study tools, thinking that if studying were easier, I would not be as likely to do it at the last second. In this section, I found a website called Quizlet. After looking around a bit, I found that Quizlet is a site on which one can create virtual flashcards for studying. Also, one can view and use cards created by other people by searching for a topic with the site’s search bar. Although one would have to make sure that the information on others’ cards was accurate, this site still provides a great wealth of study resources, and would make studying a lot easier. This would likely help quite a bit to bring down procrastination and get assignments in on time.

I regret to necessitate reporting that the enjoyment of a free day and the hectic nature of leaving town got the better of me, and I forgot your blog. Therefore, seeing the time is past the allotted time of until 3:00 of today, the following blog post is late without cause. From the site within the bog, I chose the link for the encyclopedia Britannica. Because encyclopedias were such an important source of information of all variations before computers, it appalls me that I have never thought to use an online encyclopedia or even search for one. Nevertheless, spotting a link to one made me realize how much use such a resource could be. The vast expanse of knowledge within the site should help my endeavors of all subjects when matters come to research.
In addition to the aforementioned single website, the provided website as whole will aid my work this school year. This is because the site is an efficient way to find quality references and online resources consolidated in a single location for the plethora of projects and assignments presumably heading our way in the remainder of the year. This consolidation is well organized and appears to incorporate a myriad of study topics and potential inquires.

  • Before our parent-student-teacher conferences we had to fill out a sheet for each class about how much of the information in class we understood. My lowest rating back was in French because our teacher speaks in French half of the time in class, so it is hard to understand what she says. Unlike my teacher, I can’t speak French correctly if my life depended on it, so I went to a site called Forvo that teaches you how to pronounce words in other languages. On Frovo I could listen to words pronounced by French speakers. This will come in handy in the future listening sections of my tests and during class when my teacher speaks. The site will also come in handy towards the end of the year because there is a speaking section on our final exam, and the site can teach me how to pronounce the words correctly.

  • I chose the website Howstuffworks?.com (NO COMMA!) because I have seen the show and I thought it would be like the same thing. It was almost the same as the T.V show accept there was a lot more shows on the site. There was tons of great stuff that could help me pick and idea for my science fair project. It also had a ton of ideas and question that were answered like, “Why are eels slippery?”I thought the answer was cool and interesting and it gave me something to think about after I left the site to do the blog. I will definately be going back to the site for the sceince fair to try and pick a topic. They had some very interesting ones on there. This site helped me a lot.

The biggest goal for me this year is to get better at my language class, which is Spanish. I went to the “edufire” link and clicked on flash cards. There was tons of different flash cards that helped me study for my Spanish test. I really enjoyed doing this blog and looking at this site. I’m going to be using it for now on!

  • I looked at the “My Favs” site, and I was amazed how many different links and topics there were. I chose the topic of writing skills because I am obviosly not a good English student because I have a “C” in your class. I would blame the home work and these blogs for my current grade in your class because im not good at them and I don’t do it very often, but my mom gave me a lecture about how it’s nobody’s fault but mine and I have now realized that’s the truth. This is why I am doing the blog that was due about a week ago.
I were are going to have to do school work at home, then why do we go to school in the first place? Anyway, I clicked on the link to “Bitesize.” It was a simple website that allowed your to read, watch a video, or play a boring game that is directed towards and audience from the age of seven to the age of ten. I found this website similar to many websites they told us we were allowed to go on when we were in fifth grade. I still enjoyed reminiscing while playing those educational Flash games.
